Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about choosing between these qualifications.

Which qualification is the hardest?
CFA is widely considered the hardest — with a Level 1 pass rate of around 44% and a total journey of 2–5 years. CPA USA is also demanding due to credit hour requirements and the breadth of US GAAP knowledge required. ACCA has 13 papers but is more structured, and CMA USA is the most achievable in a short period due to its 2-part format.
Can I do CFA without a commerce background?
Yes. CFA Institute accepts candidates from any academic background — engineering, science, arts, or commerce. Many successful CFA Charterholders are engineers or economics graduates. What matters is your analytical aptitude and commitment to self-study.
Which course is best for a fresher in India right now?
For Class 12 graduates, ACCA is the most accessible starting point — you can begin immediately, earn globally recognised qualifications, and build a Big 4 or corporate finance career. CMA USA is excellent for BCom/BBA graduates who want a fast route into MNC finance teams. CFA is best started during or after graduation if your goal is investment banking or portfolio management.
Is CPA USA useful in India or only in the USA?
CPA USA is increasingly valued in India, especially in MNCs with US reporting requirements, Big 4 firms serving US clients, and companies listed on US exchanges. If your work involves US GAAP, SEC filings, or serving US-headquartered companies, CPA USA is highly relevant even if you are based in India.
Can I do more than one of these qualifications?
Absolutely. Many finance professionals hold multiple qualifications. ACCA + CFA is a respected combination for broad accounting plus investment expertise. CMA USA + CPA USA works well for US-focused corporate finance careers. The right combination depends on your career goals — speak to our counsellors for a personalised recommendation.
Which offers the highest salary in India?
CFA Charterholders in investment banking and portfolio management roles command the highest salaries — senior roles can reach ₹30–60 LPA or more. However, salary depends more on your role, firm, city, and experience than the qualification alone. CPA USA holders in US MNC roles in India also command strong packages. All four qualifications significantly increase earning potential compared to a bare degree.
