CMA USA Course in India 2026: Eligibility, Exam, Duration and Careers

✎ NPA Global 📅 14 October 2026

The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), USA is one of the fastest-growing qualifications among Indian finance professionals. It is focused, globally recognised and can be completed in 12–18 months.

What is CMA USA?

CMA USA certifies expertise in management accounting and financial management — planning, budgeting, cost management, performance analysis, risk and strategic financial decisions. It is highly valued for FP&A, corporate finance and CFO-track roles.

Exam structure

PartFocus
Part 1Financial Planning, Performance and Analytics
Part 2Strategic Financial Management

Each part is a computer-based exam that starts with multiple-choice questions, followed by a second section. From 2026, IMA is replacing the essay section with case-based questions — see our guide to the 2026 CMA exam change.

Eligibility

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university (you can start preparing in your final year).
  • Two continuous years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management, which can be completed before or within a set period after passing the exams.
  • IMA membership and entrance to the CMA programme.

How long does it take?

Most students complete both parts in 12–18 months while studying or working. Exams are offered in testing windows during the year.

Who should consider CMA USA?

BCom, BBA and MBA graduates, CA students, and working professionals who want a faster route into management accounting and FP&A. Learn more on our CMA USA course page.
